Vessel Sealing System

Coagulation is generally sufficient to close small vessels, but larger vessels normally need to be sealed to assure permanent closure.

Kavandish System's vessel sealing system offers an effective method for sealing blood vessels and tissue bundles up to 7mm diameter, as an alternative to the usual surgical techniques of suturing, surgical clips and staples.

In this technique, blood vessel - including tissue or isolated blood vessels are grasped by a suitable electrosurgical tool while the HF energy is applied.

The combination of HF energy and mechanical pressure shrinks and fuses collagen and other cellular proteins, resulting in a gel-like substance that acts as a glue between the opposing vessel walls. This process makes vessel walls adhere, creating a natural permanent seal.

Kavandish System's vessel sealing system incorporates impedance monitoring circuitry and uses smart algorithms to control the current.

Meg 2 uses pulsed HF current to enable intermittent measurement of tissue impedance and to achieve a moderate heating.

There is an automatic power-off when the vessel sealing system assesses that the optimum seal has been achieved.

One of the problems that can arise from conventional electrosurgical coagulation is undesirable tissue damage due to thermal effects. In automatic control, current flows only as long as necessary, which avoids overheating, limits tissue charring, and reduces the chance of the instrument sticking to the tissue. Kavandish System's vessel sealing generates minimum thermal spread to adjacent tissue. Tissue impedance measurement provides an indication of the state of desiccation, and meg 2 automatically terminates the HF power based on the tissue impedance measurement.

Kavandish System's vessel sealing system may reduce the length of stay for patients in hospital, especially when minimally invasive surgical procedures are used.

- No foreign materials: This technology uses the body's own collagen to seal the vessels. All traditional sealing methods involve leaving foreign material inside the patient body that may cause some complications (e.g. interference with future diagnosis).
